YOUR MAC. YOUR WORK.

Privacy policy

Effective September 9, 2026

Quacktop is developed by Quackbyte. It helps you follow AI coding agents on your Mac. Quacktop does not require a Quacktop account, include advertising or analytics, or send your session data to Quackbyte servers.

Information processed on your Mac

Depending on the sources you enable and the permissions you grant, Quacktop reads local agent session records and process information. These may include session identifiers, titles, working directories, model names, activity, token counts, and prompt or reply text. It uses this information to show your sessions, usage, and requests for attention.

Settings, local event journals, agent responses, quota snapshots, and a small launch/exit diagnostic log may be stored locally. Existing agent transcripts remain in the locations managed by the corresponding agent. Quacktop does not upload these records to Quackbyte.

Claude and Codex connections

Quacktop can read usage information from local provider files and from your installed, signed-in command-line tools. Those tools may communicate with their providers under your existing account and settings.

Live Claude quota access is optional. When enabled, Quacktop uses the Claude Code credential in your macOS login Keychain to request usage information directly from Anthropic at api.anthropic.com. The credential is used for authentication and is not written to the event journal or sent to Quackbyte. You can turn this feature off in Quacktop and revoke Keychain access in macOS.

Codex quota access uses the installed Codex CLI. Quacktop does not copy its credentials or store raw account responses. Quota information is separate from the contents of your coding sessions.

Replies and agent actions

If you choose to send a follow-up, Quacktop passes it to the corresponding agent through its command-line integration. The agent may send that content to its provider. Answers to supported agent requests are written to a local response file for the requesting integration to read. Quacktop only relays a choice you make.

Provider processing is governed by the provider’s terms and privacy policy, including Anthropic’s privacy policy and OpenAI’s privacy policy.

Your choices and retention

You can disable supported collection sources and optional connections in Settings. Where macOS requests folder access, you control which folders are accessible. Local records remain until removed by you or by the relevant app’s retention behavior. Quitting or uninstalling Quacktop does not necessarily delete shared journals or the agent’s own transcripts.

To remove Quacktop records, use Settings to locate the local data folder, quit Quacktop and any companion process writing to it, then remove the records you no longer want. Manage agent transcripts separately in the corresponding agent. Device backups may retain copies according to your backup settings.
